Metal Mummy

We’ve left Freyja with my mum (Nanna) before, when we have popped out for an evening. But last night was the first time we have left her with friends. My friend Vicky is 32 weeks pregnant, so she was an ideal person to come over and babysit, (giving her some practice and some sort of insight into what she was letting herself in for…)

It was harder leaving Freyja this time though. We went to Southampton, to a much anticipated Dream Theater gig. We had been looking forward to it for months, but all the way through the gig I was just missing her enormously. It didn’t taint just how good the band were (despite pretty awful acoustics) but it did reiterate just how hard it is to leave my girl, even for a few hours. The evening also reiterated just how little energy I have. I was ready for bed before the band even came on! I saw a middle aged bloke wandering around with a cup of coffee – I mocked him at the time, seeing as he was amongst a load of boozers, but I would have murdered a brew in all fairness!

At least Freyja behaved for Vicky. She didn’t even need to call us. So well done to her!
