Castles, Weddings & School

It’s been a lovely long weekend in our household. James had a couple of days off from work, and it’s been nice to have him home.

On Thursday, we checked out a pre-school. My little girl is growing up :( I know she needs to have some sort of constant interaction with children her age, and constant stimulation too. She has loads of fun at home and does have lots of little toddler friends, but we don’t see them often enough for her. There’s a pre-school down the road which looks fab, and accepts children from the age of 2. As of her 2nd birthday, we have decided for her to attend 2 afternoon sessions a week. It’ll be good for her, and I know she will be fine. When we went to take a look at the pre-school, she got involved straight away. She wasn’t intimidated in the slightest and was so sociable – it was lovely to watch, but at the same time, it pulled at my heart strings. She’s not my baby anymore. Well, she’ll always be my baby – just a growing up baby.

The other purpose for James’ days off was to go to a wedding. My boss and his partner were tying the knot in an absolutely stunning castle near Salisbury and we were invited. It was a beautiful day.

The castle was a mission to get to (all credit goes to the coach driver – he was a ninja with those corners) but I completely see why they chose the venue. It was breathtaking.

Before the ceremony, we had lots of fun exploring the grounds, climbing up the crumbling stairs to take a look at the views. Freyja was delightful, so sociable and happy. We kept her entertained on the coach with some magazines and a couple of toys. She loved her little tea set that she got free with her Cbeebies mag, and loved playing with her new found friend.

The reception was held at the hotel they were staying at in Salisbury. It was lovely and intimate, and they had lots of good friends and family around them. We managed to keep Freyja awake until 9pm (not bad considering she only had half an hour since 7am that morning…) – we set off home and she fell asleep straight away in the car seat – she was so shattered that we ended up just transferring her to her cot fully clothed, and she slept through til the morning.

I’ve been a bit lax on the blogging front lately. I really try to keep on top of Twitter and my Google Reader but I do fail sometimes. I’m going to make every effort to blog as often as I usually do though. I’m quite enjoying this blogging malarky!
