The Wearable Duvet
Posted in Product Reviews
My daughter always slept in a sleeping bag until she turned 10 months old. Once she learned to stand, she would try and move around her cot in it, and it got to a point where it was a hazard to allow her to sleep in it. One evening, there was an almighty bang, where she had tried to walk in her sleeping bag, fallen and smacked her head on the one part of the cot that wasn’t bumpered. She had an almighty dent which made way for a bump and she was so upset. Bless her.
Say goodbye to the sleeping bag.
Say hello to the duvet.
She is now 19 months old, and I can count the number of times she’s slept underneath her duvet on one hand. I tuck her in of an evening, and within minutes, she’s out of it. She rarely gets cold so I don’t worry about it too much, but I’d like her to be under-cover for the evening, especially as the winter months creep in. You know, rather than using the duvet as a pillow.
This is why I welcomed the opportunity to review a Twinkle Tog. I saw these being advertised before they hit the shelves earlier this month, and I immediately wanted one. It was going to be part of my daughter’s Christmas present stash, but then I did my accounts and found out how much I had already spent. At an RRP of £30, the cost of the Twinkle Tog is reasonable – especially as you can pay that much for sleeping bags. They come in 2 sizes – 1 to 2 year and 2 to 3 year, and I’d say on sight, they are generously made. I think Freyja can be in the 1 to 2 year one for a while yet, which makes it value for money. They are also available in 2 different togs, depending on your requirement. I was chuffed I got sent the warmer 2.5tog one.
They also come in a range of different colours. I think Dream Genii read my mind when they were preparing the Twinkle Tog to send to me – they sent me the colour I had my eye on too! Lovely vibrant green red and blue circles. Fab.
The other thing I like about the product is it has elasticated ankles, so it won’t ride up but leaves their feet free of excess material, so that if they do start wandering around in it, they won’t slip. Another thing I like is that there are no sleeves. I would struggle to decide what to dress Freyja in if it did have sleeves through fear of overheating. I won’t worry with the design of this. The only problem I have found with the ankles is that they do fall below her ankle sometimes, but it doesn’t pose a hazard at all, and she soon pulls it back up again.
The only concern I do have is the zip. Not a problem, except my daughter has a tendency to strip off and loves fiddling with zips. But it is enclosed and hidden away, so this *shouldn’t* be a problem. After trying it for a few evenings, she’s not once tried to get out of it. So that’s an unfounded concern.
I’m so chuffed with this item. I couldn’t recommend it enough for that inbetween stage between sleeping bags being useful and duvets being kept on.
My main concern? Seeing as Freyja can walk and run around in it, I have a feeling I will be bringing her downstairs in the morning still wearing it. Which also means there’s going to be lots of we’re-going-to-stay-in-our-pyjamas-all-day-and-not-do-anything days. Not like I’m complaining, but that means an increased chance of getting food all over it. As if the washing machine isn’t used enough already…I think I may need to get another one for when this one is being washed.
Note to self: It’s tumble dry-able. Awesome.
She still sleeps with her head in her teddies with her bum in the air. But at least she’s warm whilst she’s at it. I’m so glad to see something like this finally on the market, targeting toddlers specifically. Absolutely super-dooper. I want one for me!

Looks great, Jared had sleeping bags too and we had a hard time getting him used to the duvet when he moved to a bed!! He used to sleep with his sleeping bag almost as a comforter for a while!
Do her feet get cold though? Or does she sleep in socks? lol x
