Batteries Not Included!

Because you don’t need them to use these awesome toys from Wow Toys. I have a bit of a hatred for toys that Freyja has that use batteries. Not because the batteries run down so quickly – that doesn’t really bother me. It’s mainly because they always have really annoying jingles that Freyja absolutely loves and won’t.stop.playing.ever.
When we got the opportunity to review a couple of toys from Wow I got really excited. They don’t need batteries, which means they don’t have irritating tunes! Score! The selection of toys is fantastic, ranging from toys for boys, girls and even toys for the bath. We reviewed a Dynamite Daisy sports car, Poppy’s Pony Adventure and the Wet ‘n’ Wobblies. I love how they make cars for girls, in lovely bright girly colours. They’re so pretty! The sets come with little figures and props too – the pony adventure comes with a little hay bale and a little hedge, and 2 ponies. So cute!
Dynamite Daisy was Freyja’s favourite. It was also James’ favourite. Mainly because it’s so quick. They work with the same mechanism as a lot of the old school cars, you just build up the friction and let it go! As you can see, the car went through some seriously rigorous testing. Notice our use of a colouring pad as a ramp? Ingenious.
I’d like to say that the car behaved like a boomerang every time, but it didn’t. I’d like to say that James’ knowledge of physics and angles and all that is spot on and he measured everything to make sure the car came back. I’d be lying. It was fluke. But it was a cool fluke. The only problem was that the little friendly lady who was driving the car didn’t have her seat belt on, and she kept flying out of it and being flung across the room. Luckily, she’s plastic and there was no bloodshed.
Poppy’s Pony Adventure has a lot more included in it. It has a little 4×4 truck with a little magnet that the horse box attaches too, space for 2 figures and a little roof that opens up. It’s pretty damn cool. The horse truck is fabulous though – a little space on the top for the straw bale and hedge jump, and the best bit? Personally? You press the little petrol pump cap thing on the side, and the back door opens! How awesome! I love the attention to detail too. The little stickers that are added to make it more realistic. These toys really are special. Again, Freyja won’t leave the house without these toys if she’s off visiting people. My handbag looks ridiculous. Seriously. It’s now a toy box and somewhere in there lives my belongings, but I need 5 minutes to root through all the Wow Toys.
I expected a lot from the Wet ‘n’ Wobblies. I’ve been after a set of cool bath toys for Freyja for a while, and I thought these guys would be it. They are all really vibrant and lovely and each do something different. The smallest one spurts water, the second one has little holes in it which water comes out of and the third one has a little pulley which makes it vibrate and move through the water. At least that’s what it should do. I was mega excited to use these for Freyja’s bath the day that we received them, but to be honest, I was a little disappointed. It wasn’t necessarily a problem with the toys – they all did what they said on the tin – I think I was just expecting something else. Not sure what though. The only problem I had with them was that the vibrating one, which sucker cups to the side of the bath, doesn’t really stay on top of the water unless you fiddle with it a lot – not something a toddler would master very easily I don’t think. I’d love to try out the motor boats though, like Sally or Sophie – they look awesome.
I’m so pleased that I have found out about Wow Toys. They are truly brilliant, excellent quality and come in super bright colours, which I love. They are also reasonably priced and by the amount of times they’ve been flung round the room – extremely durable. They are free from all nasties like PVC and are suitable from 18 months to 5 – so definitely grow with your child. The only problem I found with the range as a whole was that they are a pain in the ar*e to get out of the packaging – pretty much the same as most toys on the market – I understand the need for ties to keep them attached to the box, but personally, I don’t think wires wrapped a gazillion times around the wheels are necessary. This isn’t a dig aimed at only Wow Toys though, just toy packaging in general.
They are perfect little gifts for Christmas and birthdays, and the kid in your house will no doubt love them as much as mine does. I mean Freyja, not my hubby… Although he loves them too.
