Top 5… Places to Visit
Posted in General
I’m jealous. Truly jealous. Kate has been to some absolutely fabulous places.
I’ve been rather lucky in my life so far – I’ve visited some truly wonderful places thanks to my mum (who saved like mad each year to get us a holiday abroad). I really can’t complain. I just hope that I can provide such fantastic holidays for Freyja (who hasn’t done too bad so far, considering she’s been on a plane 3 times already and she’s not even 2)
This week, it’s Top 5 places you’ve been to on Kate’s blog, and it was a fun one to think about. Check out the other entries by clicking on the funky badge at the end of this post.
My top 5 places…
1) Port Douglas, Australia. In fact, the whole of that part of Australia holds a very special place in my heart. I’ve been there twice, and both times I fell in love with the place. We stayed in Port Douglas and drove up the coast to the Daintree Rainforest (beautiful) and Cape Trib (also beautiful). I would quite happily live there, live the life, and eat at The Hog’s Breath (awesome place for steak – om nom nom). I am desperate to go back again. I bet it hasn’t changed much.
2) Singapore. We stopped here for a few days on the way to Australia back in 2000. It is such a beautiful country, with amazing food, amazing culture and lovely people. Loved it. Would love it even better if I got to stay in the Raffles hotel. But you know, there’s still time.

3) Prague, Czech Republic. This place is fantastic. We went here in 2007 for my friend’s hen weekend and it was a fabulous weekend. We explored the city, visited a few hotspots, found lovely restaurants to eat at a reasonable price, visited the sex museum (oo er) and the torture museum (fab) and drank copious amounts of Absinthe in underground rocker bars.
(Not the most flattering pic of me with a cig hanging out, but it was the best I could find of the girls who went)
4) Rocamador, France. When we last went to visit James’ parents in the Dordogne, France (they live there), we went on a few day trips to various places in the region. I fell in love with this place. It’s a town build into the side of a mountain, and it’s absolutely breathtaking. I loved the quaint little shops and the cobbled streets. Beautiful.
5) Home. How can I make a list of favourite places and not include Home? I want to travel the world. I want to visit everything I possibly can. I’ve knocked a few places off my list now, but there’s still so much to see. And I will do it. But after all of the air miles, after all the baggage has been reclaimed and the mosquito bites have healed, I’ll always want to return home. It’s where the heart is, and I love it.

So are you all after a place in my heart, all you Aussie-lovers?
You even love Hogs Breath! That’s brilliant.

That cracks me up. The last HB I went to was in Wagga – good steak. x

My pitiful lack of wanderlust is shameful this week! Looks like everyone is so well travelled…I feel very unworldly! xxx

Loving your list. I spent my honeymoon in Port Douglas too and can’t wait to take my kids back there…

A lovely list of holidays, lucky you! A nice touch to include home–how remiss of me to leave that off my list.
Greetings, I’m a bit new around this blog, lovely stuff, I look forward to visiting again soon.

OK this is weird. You’re my first entry and your first place is somewhere I’ve also been and loved. We travelled to Port Douglas, camped with the crocodiles in the Daintree Rainforest, popped by Cape Trib and even ate at the Hogs Breath…and guess what – it was in 2000!
Love your other entries but can’t get passed this one yet!
