Music I Want My Child to Listen to: Audioslave
Posted in General
I was really umming and ahhing about what music to add to my post this week. I had this fabulous band in mind, and then I skipped via Incubus, and deviated past some bands similar to Ghostwritermummy‘s contribution and came back to these guys.
I love these guys.
They’re a “supergroup” formed from members of Rage Against the Machine and Soundgarden. I also used to love listening to these bands too. Soundgarden are the epitome of grunge, and I love it.
Anyway, back to Audioslave. Unfortunately, they split up a few years ago and the vocalist, Chris Cornell, went on to other ventures – mainly his solo career. In the 6 years they were together, they have done some fabulous songs.
They are kinda heavy, but not in the screaming “I don’t understand a word you’re saying and it’s making my ears bleed” kinda way. More in a hard rock-post grunge way. You can actually understand the lyrics – always a bonus considering some of the music I listen to.
All of their songs are so different to one another – from the melancholic Like A Stone to the heavier Cochise. One of the most popular ones is Be Yourself – a song about never being ashamed about who you are. I like that.
If you get a minute, check them out. They’re awesome. Not to mention Chris Cornell is a hottie.

Oooh great choice! I know it’s one of their more mainstream songs but I do love Be Yourself.

I am now going to listen to Audioslave… you know my musical tastes by now, will I like them?
XxX

I don’t really know why me and Audioslave didn’t get on. I suspect it might have been the months of touting that they’d be the new Rage and by then I’d moved on the pastures new.
