Preschool, Vents and CBeebies

It’s been a pretty eventful couple of days – far away from my usual slobbing around antics. I have actually DONE STUFF. Stuff that has been on my list of things to do for ages, and have only just found the motivation to actually do.

I’ve been on a bit of a spring clean mission. For me to actually be able to say that, something has to be wrong. I hate cleaning. Bloody hate it. But yesterday, I was in the mood so much that I actually pulled out the sofa and cleaned BEHIND it. Not only that, but I also cleaned the SKIRTING BOARDS. I know. I feel a little sick just writing it. I can’t quite believe I did it. There’s still a lot for me to do to get this place in order, but it’s looking good.

The whole spring clean got me thinking about the house and what is wrong with it. We bought it as a new build almost a year ago, and as with any new build, there have been flaws. We did suffer a lot of damp from the place drying out, but this got fixed with a mammoth dehumidifer that Persimmon brought round (and paid for the electricity). We have a few cracks in the walls where it’s been drying out and shrinking. I know that happens. It doesn’t bother me, because a lick of paint will fix it. What I don’t like as much is seeing the sealant around the shower base come away from the tiles – that’s just shoddy workmanship. What I don’t like is the lino and carpet having bubbles in it when you work over it. The main thing I don’t like is knowing that our attic is extremely damp – a lot of our things have been ruined and are currently covered in mould. I know I know, the house is drying out – but if the builders hadn’t have built the roof and left the timber out for the elements, it wouldn’t be so wet. So, I did some moaning to Persimmon. I wanted ventilation fitted. At no extra cost. I emailed them yesterday. They sent the contractors round this morning. We now have ventialtion. That’s what I call fabulous customer service!

The other big thing that has happened today is I have enrolled Freyja in pre-school. There’s a lovely little one along the road that accepts children from their 2nd birthday, so as of the 26th April, Freyja will be going to pre-school and having a marvellous time for 2 mornings a week. She will love it. I know she will thrive.

And… the other thing I’ve finally gotten round to doing is making Freyja a birthday card for CBeebies! I really hope it gets shown, but I’m not keeping my hopes up, because I know it’s not guaranteed. So, just in case it doesn’t get shown, I have a picture of it to keep as a record. I’m quite pleased with it – if I had more time, I would have done more to the background, but I was lazy and left it til last minute so this will have to do! I’m just pleased I’ve done one – ran out of time last year!

You’re lucky you didn’t get a George Wimpey house…such shoddy workmanship and appalling customer service. Don’t get me started!! Good luck with the card!!!! xxxx

Persimmon have been nothing but good to us. Few people have complained, but I can’t fault their service. xxx

I only ever cleaned the skirting boards when I was pregnant and nesting. #Justsaying…
