Rash: Update

Posted in General (Tags: , , , )

OK, so I’ve just got back from the doctors with her. Minus the fact the surgery was ridiculously busy and it was impossible to entertain a toddler for the waiting time, it went fine.

Doc said it’s a viral reaction. We can’t determine what virus, but there’s no sign of whatever it was that caused it. Which means, it should get better on it’s own. She said that the other option would be an allergic reaction to a change in washing powder or cream or whatever, but as there’s been no change, then it can’t be that.

There’s no sign of any adverse symptoms, and she’s otherwise well. I’ve been told that if it is still there in 2 weeks, to go back and get some antihistamines which may help. Otherwise, I have been given some calamine lotion to help any itching (which doesn’t seem to exist but at least I have it just in case).

Apart from that, I had to ask how contagious hand foot & mouth was, seeing as she was playing with a little boy in the waiting room that had it. I know it’s not a major illness, but I could do without her having that as well. I washed her hands though, so she should be fine.

So, hopefully, it’ll clear up on it’s own soon!

glad its not serious hun, hopefully it will go and if it does itch you have the cream. I hate waiting rooms for the same reason, if your not that ill when you go in you can come out with something! Glad shes ok xx

Glad to hear it’s nothing too bad. I know Freya had a viral rash a few months back and it went away on it’s own. To be honest she’s had a cold and cough lately and seems a little bit rashy in places so she could be coming out in something herself.

    Glad Freyja is okay xx

Hooray! Hooray! It’s a viral reaction! And not anything horribler than that!

That was supposed to rhyme, and I couldn’t think of a rhyme to ‘viral reaction’, so it’s more a freestyle. Hope you appreciate it ;)

    Glad Freyja is OK! xx

just a little tip re calamine lotion….apply it from a spray bottle (like you’d use for spraying plants) – you get much more even coverage & it becomes a fun game! ESP if she gets something really itchy like chickenpox xx

Baba gets viral rashes all the time, they are all gone within a couple of weeks. Just a heads up his go through his body he is covered and then it disappears from the top half and ends up with funny feet and toes! xxx

could be the same then. Freyja’s has been here for 4 weeks now! But they can take an age to get rid of xx
