Product Review & Competition: Names Illustrated

Posted in Competition/Giveaway, General, Product Reviews (Tags: , , , , )

I have seen so many various companies and independent designers over the past few months of moseying, who produce some fabulous art all based on one name.

Names Illustrated is no different. Gemma, the owner of the business, is one very talented designer and an all round fabulous person. She produces some fantastic designs, based around your name, and produces everything from mugs to canvasses and door plaques.

The premise is that for each letter in the name, various items beginning with that letter make up the design. So for example, the H in my name would be made up of things like a Helicopter, a Hand and a Horse. Great idea, right?

The product is just as impressive. I was lucky enough to have a door plaque/desk plaque with my daughter’s name designed and also a mug with my name designed on it. They both look ace!

I don’t think a cuppa has ever tasted better ;)

Gemma’s business is doing really well and I imagine that with the recent Fathers Day, she may have had a slight influx of orders. But what about other days? Other relatives? Even a “Best Teacher” one for your child’s fave teacher at school? The possibilties are endless.

It’s not only this that she excels in. Names Illustrated can also provide bespoke designs in a “This Is Your Life” style, suitable for any big occasion such as a wedding or a birthday. In fact, she once did an original painting for James Hewitt..

Now for the awesome part. I have a lovely little giveaway for you guys.

You can win 2 mugs which are personal to you. So, for example, you could have one mug for yourself and one for your other half, parent or child, or even a present to your mate that deserves a little gift. These are designed around your name requests; the winner will be put in touch with Gemma who will do the rest.

All you have to do is:

1) Suggest a name or word that you think would look fabby as one of these designs
2) Like Names Illustrated on Facebook.

Simple eh?
Just add your contact details as a comment, and let me know you have liked the Names Illustrated FB page. I’ll be interested to see your name suggestions!

Competition closes 6th July. Winner will be drawn randomly using online generator. Good Luck!

I was given a “Hannah” mug and a “Freyja” desk plaque for the purpose of this review. All opinions remain honest.

Well, I’m going to be selfish and say I’d love to see my name decorated!! Also, if I won the comp I’d have them done for me and OH for our wedding. Oh how sickening!!

I’d love this done for Kezia…her name is way too unusual for finding anything personalised in the shops!! I’d love to see what Gemma came up with for ‘z’. I’ve liked the Facebook page. @wendymcd83

My letter zeds have zebras, zodiacs, zigs and zags! The capital Zed has zeppelins, zithers, zoos and zips – lovely!

I’d have my son Rhys’ name decorated for his daddy. In fact, I really didn’t know what to get him for his first father’s day and ended up buying a lame t-shirt. So this has given me a great idea for a belated gift – off to take a look at the website right now!!

I think Anouska would be a great name to see on a mug, as it’s my fantastic little sister’s name. She doesn’t get enough gifts from her super big sister! (She does really….but y’know, one more wouldn’t hurt!)

    Have liked on Facebook :D

  12. Nicola parker (Friday 24th June 2011 @ 04:06 pm) (Reply to this)

  13. Lioni Paris (Friday 24th June 2011 @ 10:06 pm) (Reply to this)

Hey, I would love to have my name on a mug! It’s rather unusual so i don’t have a name mug, never got the keyrings or neckalces when i was younger! So this would mean a lot and that i could join the rest of my family and housemates with a name mug lol! For the other mug I would like my cats names – Rosie and Leo because it would be a nice momento. :D I will like on Facebook now and follow on twitter as @LioniParis thanks xx

  14. Jacky Pey (Wednesday 29th June 2011 @ 10:06 am) (Reply to this)

I would have “Jacky’s – hands off ” to stop anyone else in the office using it! That said it’s probably too long so I would look for a gift for one of my unusually named relatives, EOIN or ANYA for example where you can’t find anything. Actually, that’s a good idea as Anya will shortly be leaving home to go to college so a mug would be great for her – hope I win!! Have liked FB

  15. Anna (Wednesday 29th June 2011 @ 09:06 pm) (Reply to this)

I have liked FB. Would love one for my daughter Elena, she would love her own mug and is 4 years old so at the stage of being very inquisitive about her name and how you write the letters, there would be no excuses for spelling her name wrong….. :)

  16. Vickie (Sunday 3rd July 2011 @ 03:07 pm) (Reply to this)

When naming either of my children I didn’t stop to think that it is near impossible to get personalised products for them in this country so either Gabriel or Reuben would be fab! Liked on Facebook too x

  17. The mummy life (Monday 4th July 2011 @ 08:07 am) (Reply to this)

  19. Rhiannon (mummy wants) (Monday 4th July 2011 @ 10:07 am) (Reply to this)

    • Hannah (Monday 4th July 2011 @ 10:07 am) (Reply to this)

I’m assuming she would, if you wanted 2 the same! :) x

  20. Gygy Mum (Monday 4th July 2011 @ 11:07 am) (Reply to this)

  22. thepricklypinecone (Tuesday 5th July 2011 @ 12:07 am) (Reply to this)

I think the word Smile would be great, for one because you can’t help but smile when looking at the designs and 2 because we all need a little reminder every so often!

  30. heather rees (Tuesday 5th July 2011 @ 08:07 pm) (Reply to this)

  31. JULIE DEACON (Tuesday 5th July 2011 @ 08:07 pm) (Reply to this)

I’d like to see my little girl’s name ‘Carys’ on a mug, since it’s so difficult to find anything personalised with her name on it!

    Beautiful products, liked on facebook.

    • Gemma Davies (Wednesday 6th July 2011 @ 11:07 am) (Reply to this)

I know the feeling – my daughters have unusual names too. I think it’s my usp that I can do any name. What would the other mug say if you won?

  32. Samantha (Tuesday 5th July 2011 @ 08:07 pm) (Reply to this)

A lot of people are saying they find it hard to get personalised items for the kids, my little girl is called Lydia and we rarely find anything with her name on it either so would be nice to have her name on a mug, liking on facebook contact @lillyfer85

  34. carol phile (Tuesday 5th July 2011 @ 10:07 pm) (Reply to this)

I would love a Rebecka mug for my daughter – her Dad said he spelled it this way on purpose but we have grown to love the spelling. Unfortunately nobody gets it right so if she had a mug to take to work with the correct spelling on, not only would she be thrilled but they might get it right. Maybe we should have a second one with our awkward surname…
