Poo on the Carpet

I haven’t written a blog for wayyyyy too long, and I have a couple of posts backed up which I need to complete, to update the blog with goings on over the past couple of months. But, I thought it would be an opportune time to write an embarrassing one for Freyja to cringe over when she grows up.

She’s been struggling with nappy rash over the past couple of days. We have just got back from a holiday in France, and whilst we were there, she tried some runny cheese. It smelt (and tasted) like sweaty socks, but for some reason, Freyja liked it. Her bum didn’t though and for the next couple of days, she had a bit of a pooey problem, which made a particularly bad bout of nappy rash flare up.

Anyway, we got back from France yesterday, and decided that this morning, a bit of nappy off time was in order, to let the fresh air get to it and hopefully improve the state of her nether regions.

My mistake was letting her run around the living room without the nappy on. 15 minutes later, I find her squatting, right in the middle of my lovely cream carpet, leaving a lovely turd for me to clean up. Nice. Thanks Freyja.

Nearly A Year…

It’s flying, it really is. A year ago, I was 8 and a half months pregnant, counting down the days til our baby was born. And here she is, a year on, a wonderful little girl who has made us so proud.

We’ve just got back from a lovely weekend with family, Freyja having charmed the socks off everyone she met, as usual! I’m in the middle of making her birthday present, so the visit to family and friends was a big help for it.

It was also my first Mother’s Day It’s weird being a mummy and having my own card, and today, I had a jigsaw of a photo of Freyja and I – I’ll enjoy doing that, amongst all the packing we have to do. We have had our completion date through – 31st March – meaning we don’t have long left to organise ourselves! It’s so exciting though, to think that next month, we’ll be in our new house. It’s an awesome thought

Right, back to packing. I’ve only done one box :/

The Latest Craze

Freyja goes through stages of loving various things, and shows her love of whatever it may be, by squeaking. Previous adorations have been the living room door, mobile phones and remote controls.

Her latest fad? The Churchill dog off the telly.

I was watching Frasier this morning, and it was the same episode that I have seen before. I wouldn’t usually write about such a programme, but he said something that made me completely fill up, and now, it’s my quote of the day:

“You Don’t Just Love Your Children, You’re In Love With Them”

Whoever thought of that line has got it spot on. I’m completely in love with my daughter. I can quite happily be with her every second of the day, and watching her play, learn and grow gives me butterflies.

Sounds cheesy I know, but it’s true.

Big Car Seat for a Big Girl

Today was the first time Freyja went in her new car seat. It’s a Britax Eclipse forward facing one, that she can stay in til she’s 4. It’s awesome, and has a funky table thing you can stick on it, for when she’s bored on longer journeys. We haven’t put the table on it yet – there seems little point if we’re only going to be in the car for 20 minutes, especially as she’ll probably just throw all her toys on the floor of the car anyway. And then would get even more frustrated because the table is hindering her ability to get to her feet to pull her socks off.

Her first trip out in it was to the Persimmon market suite, to change our fridge and also to take a look at how they are coming along with our new house. It’s so fab to see it looking more and more real!

Freyja seemed to enjoy her seat, so much so that she fell asleep in it… and that was without having to recline it either!

An Interesting Week…

This week has been interesting to say the least.
Freyja has been pretty much an angel – minus them naughty gummies of hers, which are causing her a lot of grief at the moment. She is finally sleeping through the night again though – ONLY when she has 4 solid feeds a day on top of her milk. She’ll be on pureed food soon – I’m really looking forward to cooking them veggies!!

In other news, we are waiting on a call from the bank – hopefully approving our mortgage application! Eek! We have seen a lovely house in Portsmouth that we are really hoping we get accepted for. It won’t be ready until March, as it’s a new build, but we are waiting on a call from the bank. It’s nerve racking to say the least! And one helluva big step. But a step we both so desperately want to take.
We’re off t’up North for the weekend to see friends – it’ll be a nice break, and hopefully get some pictures. I’ve just realised I’ve been pretty slack on the photos in September. In fact, I’ve been pretty slack on everything.
I need to get some pictures of Freyja sitting – she is so good now! She seems to have perfected her sitting technique, and her balance, over night. She hardly wobbles now! Clever girly – 5 months and sitting like a star. We are so proud of her!

Nappies…

How can such a perfect, beautiful and awesome little girl, produce a mess that even the hottest curry wouldn’t make? They only drink milk! How’s it turn from white to THAT in matter of hours? Christ almighty. No wonder she makes herself jump after some motions.

Freyja, I’m sorry if you’re reading this when you’re older, but really, they are vile!!
